Job Summary
Lead structural engineering projects designing concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and composite structures for municipal and industrial facilities, including pump stations, reservoirs, and water treatment plants in high seismic regions. Prepare specifications and drawings, perform structural analysis using RISA 3D, Enercalc, RAM Elements, RAM Structural Systems, and STAAD, and utilize BIM tools like Revit to deliver interactive design environments. Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to provide solutions for clients across the United States, conduct on-site structural observation during construction, and evaluate existing structures. Requires a licensed PE in California with 10+ years of structural consulting experience. Hybrid schedule with minimum two days in Northern California office.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) required in the state of California
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Engineering focus (ABET accredited)
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a consulting engineer focused on structural design
- Experience working on structural engineering projects from conception to completion
- Deep understanding of structural design principles, codes and standards
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D/BIM modeling
- Licensed Professional Structural Engineer (SE) preferred in the state of California
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred background in water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Experience with RISA 3D, Enercalc, RAM Elements, RAM Structural Systems, and STAAD
- Experience with Revit
- 15 years preferred
- Experience working on structural engineering projects from conception to completion. This includes collaboration, design, analysis, and construction phase
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide solutions to clients throughout the United States including and supporting municipal agencies and industrial facilities
- Lead structural engineering efforts related to engineering services during construction as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Work includes on-site structural observation
- Lead structural engineering projects in the design of concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and composite construction to deliver structural solutions for projects both large and small
- This role will require the preparation of specifications and drawings on projects as it relates to structural engineering
- Design and analyze structures such as treatment plant buildings, tanks, clarifiers and other facilities that are a part of the water and wastewater treatment process in high seismic regions
- Projects may also include existing structure evaluation
- Design and analysis of pump stations including the buildings that house pumps, piping systems and support structures
- Use BIM tools to deliver many of these projects, and to provide clients with interactive environments to provide meaningful input on projects from the initial planning stages, through design and construction
- Work closely with other engineers and designers as a part of the Kennedy Jenks Technical Services Team
