Job Summary
Structural Engineer role within Hatch’s PDG, delivering engineering services for mining projects including underground areas. Focus areas include concrete foundations and structural steel design, with responsibilities spanning engineering calculations, supervision of designers and junior engineers, preparation of technical specifications, data sheets, and reports. Collaboration with the Lead Structural Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Project Manager to meet scope, cost, and schedule, while upholding safety and integrity principles, engineering standards, and design reviews. Requires professional engineer registration (or active licensure path) and 7+ years of project engineering experience in mining-related structures; proficiency with Staad Pro (Mathcad and SAP2000 beneficial); strong communication, planning, and organizational skills; ability to manage capital/maintenance projects and contribute to proposals and technical memos.
Required Qualifications
- A recognized degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university
- Registration as a professional engineer. Alternatively, registration as a candidate professional engineer or regional equivalent
- Minimum 7+ years project engineering experience, including underground mining projects and related structures such as mine shaft and headframe design
- Experience with Staad Pro structural analysis software. Familiarity with Mathcad and SAP 2000 is beneficial
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Ability to function with minimal supervision
- Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards
- Awareness of Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Policy and standards
