Job Summary
Conduct complete designs for civil/structural engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. Develop conceptual layouts, cost studies, and estimate-level preliminary designs while producing detailed calculations and sketches for materials of construction. Check calculations made by others to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, and good engineering practice. Assist drafting groups in resolving layout problems, review vendor and discipline drawings, and develop construction specifications. Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support. Lead small to medium teams, coordinate civil/structural efforts, and develop work sharing packages for interoffice execution support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Structural coursework
- Professional Engineering registration
- 6+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering
- Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)
- Expertise with civil/structural analysis software including operating and interpreting results
- Knowledge of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects
- Able to lead a small to medium team to deliver on commitments
- Working knowledge of STAAD, E3D, MicroStation and Bluebeam software
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed and able to provide interoffice execution support with general supervision
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred
