Job Summary

Structural Engineer role focusing on forensic structural investigations across residential, commercial, and light industrial claims. Responsibilities include performing and managing structural failure investigations to determine root causes, attending client meetings and on-site inspections, reviewing technical drawings and codes, gathering evidence, securing and presenting findings (including in court if required), collaborating with multidisciplinary experts, preparing clear reports from preliminary findings to detailed documentation, managing multiple projects with attention to quality and timelines, mentoring junior engineers, and participating in business development while adhering to HSE guidelines. Requirements include a civil/structural engineering degree, a P.Eng. license in Alberta, 8+ years of Western Canadian structural design experience, experience with various construction materials, and strong communication and code-knowledge skills.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or a recognized equivalent
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Alberta
  • 8+ years of western Canada structural design experience
  • Experience in renovation or repair of existing buildings is a strong asset
  • Experience in building condition assessments is a strong asset
  • Strong command of oral and written English
  • Knowledge of the Construction Codes and Standards
  • Design experience in structures including wood, steel and concrete
  • Field experience in civil/structural inspections
