Job Summary

Review and check design documents and deliverables from contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes. Evaluate contracted work for quality and validity, determining adequacy of contractor data and safety requirements. Conduct on-site inspections at the Idaho National Lab to resolve technical issues and verify project compliance. Track project progress and contractual change orders using various reporting mechanisms. Provide technical support for structural engineering concepts, construction standards, and materials throughout the design-to-commissioning lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET Accredited program
  • State of Idaho Professional Engineering License or able to obtain within six months
  • Demonstrated experience working on a range of projects from concept through construction completion
  • Knowledge of design, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness
  • Familiarity with ASTM, ASME, and IBC codes
  • Ability to understand and follow established Amentum quality procedures
  • Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work onsite at Idaho National Lab daily
  • US citizenship
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug and background check
  • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting
  • Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc.
  • Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation
  • Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same
  • Must be alert to equipment in the field
  • Occasional travel
  • Will work near construction job site equipment when in the field
  • Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery
  • Occasional need to walk on uneven ground
  • Exposure to dust, gas or fumes
  • Exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity
  • Potential work at heights

Desired Qualifications

  • Able to lead groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules
  • Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) standards and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations
  • Master's degree is a plus
