Job Summary
Oversee the building design and construction of aerodynamic research facilities, and the detailed design of heavy-structural-aero-test equipment for wind tunnels and aero-acoustic facilities. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary project team to develop or reuse facility and equipment design solutions, prepare calculations, review drawings, and ensure specifications meet customer requirements and industry codes. Provide on-site and remote engineering support during construction and fabrication, assist in proposals and cost estimates, and travel domestically and internationally. Strong proficiency in structural engineering concepts, FEM modeling (RISA/ANSYS), CAD (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks), familiarity with IBC, Eurocode, AISC, ACI, NFPA, and CE compliance, and demonstrated ability to manage budgets and schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- 5+ years of practical work experience in design engineering, structural analysis, building construction oversight or similar roles
- PE preferred
