Job Summary
Perform engineering analyses and design for heavy industrial and power generation projects under the supervision of licensed engineers. Provide multi-discipline design support from scope development through construction completion, evaluating building and design code requirements such as IBC, ASCE, and ACI. Build 3D analytical structural models using software like STAAD Pro and assist in producing drawings, documents, and technical specifications. Travel to project sites and meetings as needed. This role is remote or located at various Energy offices across the United States and requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with two years of relevant power generation experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 2+ years of relevant heavy industrial and/or power generation experience
- Perform engineering analyses and design under the direct supervision of experienced and licensed professional engineers
- Provide engineering support for multi-discipline design projects from work scope development until the completion of construction
- Evaluate and apply applicable building code requirements and design code requirements (e.g. IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC)
- Travel to project site and meetings as needed
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving structural engineering problems including building 3D analytical structural models
- Assist with productions of drawing and documents
- Develop technical specifications, plans, and details
- Attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
- +4 years of experience
- EIT or PE license
- Demonstrated experience of structural steel design and reinforced concrete design
- Demonstrated experience with design/building codes such as the AISC Manual of Steel Construction, ACI 318, International Building Code, and ASCE 7 (Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures)
- Proficient with computer productivity software such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience to structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro
- Experience with civil drainage and sitework design
- Basic knowledge and skill with AutoCAD software
- Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
