Structural Engineer

$130,000–$150,000 year

On-sitePhoenix, Arizona, United States

Full Time

Job Summary

Own the structural design approach for new and non-standard projects, from concept through stamped submission. Take first-of-kind and special-interest projects start to finish, including multi-story complexes and configurations with no existing template. Develop loads and produce complete calculation packages for gravity and lateral systems across wood, cold-formed steel, and structural steel. Design gravity systems including roof framing members, bearing walls, engineered beams, clean-span steel trusses, and floor framing. Design lateral systems such as roof and floor diaphragms, shearwalls, and structural steel portal frames. Turn early-stage concepts into buildable, code-compliant structures alongside design and production teams while carrying multiple concurrent projects in a production-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited university
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil or structural engineering
  • Complete and current NCEES record holder
  • California, Alaska, and/or Hawaii licensure, or a demonstrated ability to obtain licensure across multiple states quickly
  • Minimum 3 years practicing as a licensed PE, stamping your own calculations
  • Track record designing non-standard or first-of-kind structural systems — not only repeat/production details
  • Load development and complete calculations for both gravity and lateral systems
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software: ENERCALC, Tekla TEDDS, RISA 3D, Woodworks, cold-formed steel design tools, Excel, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE, NDS, AISC, and AISI
  • Wood framing and cold-formed steel design experience
  • On-site at one of two U.S. manufacturing locations: Phoenix, AZ or Tavares, FL

Desired Qualifications

  • Multi-story wood design and/or high-wind / high-seismic experience a plus
