Job Summary
Prepare detailed construction drawings, engineering calculations, sketches, and design information according to project standards. Convert system design concepts into specific layouts by interpreting basis of design, user requirements, field surveys, and code research. Layout and design buildings, foundations for complex equipment, and superstructures for elevated distribution systems. Generate sketches, plans, sections, and details from 3D models while collaborating with project managers and engineers to apply design codes. This Designer I role at Affiliated Engineers, Inc. offers exposure to mechanical and structural disciplines across power manufacturing and process industries, including CHP, solar energy, and thermal systems. The position supports mission-driven organizations in healthcare, science, and technology sectors.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Architectural Design or equivalent technical experience
- 1 - 5 years of experience in computer aided drafting and design
- Experienced with AutoCAD or Revit
- Ability to collaborate with others (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers) to apply design codes and specification requirements
- Ability to read, modify, and create process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Experience in interpreting structural design criteria and converting into specific layouts
- Generate sketches, plans, sections, and details from a 3D model
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks a plus
