Job Summary
Support spacecraft structural and thermal design efforts for lunar landers and satellites, including component layout, trade studies, and design validation. Conduct structural computational analyses, create 3D models and drawings for manufacturing, and prepare test plans with data analysis and JIG designs. Manage supplier coordination to resolve manufacturing issues and report to team leads. This role requires a BS/MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering with over three years of design experience, proficiency in Solidworks, FEmap, or NASTRAN, and business-level Japanese. Candidates must be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and willing to relocate to Japan.
Required Qualifications
- Currently in Japan with valid working visa
- Relocation to Japan upon acceptance of the position
- Hold BS and/or MS in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering
- More than 3 years of experience in the design of aerospace, aviation or automotive applications
- Extensive experience with CAD software packages and drawing makings
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) and of the stack-up calculation method for drawing tolerances (i.e. RSS)
- Knowledge of mechanical design, material selection, and fabrication processes for spaceflight hardware or equivalent
- Work experience by using Japanese and English including meeting and documentation
- Comfortable with change, fast-pace environment, and learning new things
- Proactive attitude, team player, and strong responsibility for own works
- Business Level Japanese
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in Solidworks, FEmap, NASTRAN (or equivalent) software packages
- Experience of management of product BOM (Bill of Material)
- Knowledge of composite material (CFRP etc) and experience of design with that
- Knowledge of thermal design and analysis
- Experience of space environmental tests
- Experience in new industrial development project
