Job Summary
Conduct structural analysis for ground, airborne, and space-based opto-mechanical systems using hand calculations, finite element analysis, and mathematical software. Perform analytical predictions for stress, strain, fatigue, fracture mechanics, thermal expansion, and dynamic response. Execute test activities including component tap tests, system modal surveys, random vibration, sine burst, and proof testing, correlating measured results to model predictions. Support all design and development phases from conceptual design through customer support while maintaining cost and schedule. Requires a U.S. Government Security Clearance and 4 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- BSAE / BSME (or equivalent)
- BSME (or equivalent)
- 4 years of relevant experience
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of structural finite element analysis
- Knowledge of traditional hand calculations
- Knowledge of fundamental structural concepts (stress/strain, buckling, fatigue, detrimental yielding, dynamics, natural frequency, frequency response, etc.)
- Active U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Knowledge of FEMAP
- Knowledge of NASTRAN
- Knowledge of VA-One
- Knowledge of SigFit
- Knowledge of AFGROW
- Knowledge of MATLAB
- Experience with space structures
- Knowledge of launch and orbital environments
- Knowledge of optical assemblies
