Define failure cases, calculate margins of safety for composite and metallic structures, and translate load states into static qualification testing. Support architecture concept evaluation, lead trade studies, and participate in material and failure review boards while disposing of non-conformance issues. Requires BS in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years of spacecraft structural analysis experience, and domestic/international travel. U.S. citizenship required for ITAR compliance.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/structural analysis of spacecraft
- FEMAP and NASTRAN expertise
- Finite element modeling best practices
- Use of free body diagrams
- Top-level analysis that resolves computer-derived loads in a way that can be intuitively checked
- Experience with composite space structures
- Ability to identify critical loads to be recovered in the coupled loads analysis (CLA)
- Complete knowledge of NASTRAN solution sequences, case control, and bulk data cards
- FEMAP and finite element modeling best practices
