Job Summary
Influence new product design via sound, data-driven analysis results and aid in defining project scope with stakeholders. Construct complex Finite Element Models for modal, dynamic, thermal, and other structural evaluations using ANSYS, Siemens FEMAP, or NASTRAN for space applications. Develop constructive solutions by interacting with internal departments, clients, and suppliers to optimize designs and interfaces. Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations while balancing model simplicity with accuracy, backing up simulation results with hand calculations, code scripting, and spreadsheets. Pro-actively ensure simulation outputs align with design requirements and deliver tailored results to business needs. Work within a multi-functional environment to achieve technical and schedule objectives, managing tight deadlines and complex simulation models.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. or PhD in structural/mechanical engineering or a similar field
- 3+ years' working experience performing structural analysis in a professional engineering environment in space sector, preferably in the European space sector
- Excellent English skills (oral and written)
- Extensive experience with ANSYS APDL/Mechanical, experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN
- Extensive experience with scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB/Octave or FORTRAN
- Excellent hand-calculation and excel-based analysis skills to back up detailed FEA results
- Experience with Git version control
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage your own time and the demanding expectations of the projects
- Ability to learn quickly and use initiative to quickly understand highly complex designs
- Ease with highly complex and potentially technically challenging simulation models
- Analytical and solution-oriented working style combined with ability to work in a team and excellent communication skills to interface with partners
- Eligibility to work in EU without restriction
Desired Qualifications
- German language skills
- Familiarity with nonlinear finite element analysis
- Familiarity with ESA and ECSS standards
