Stripping/Thermal Spray Operator

Job Summary
Prepare tools, perform safety checks on equipment and acid tanks, and load/unload parts into chemical tanks while monitoring the stripping process. Mask parts using designated methods, verify fixture setups meet quality standards, and install, align, and secure tooling on machines. Load control media or retrieve pre-programmed instructions, set machine controls for spindle positioning, and operate equipment independently while adjusting for malfunctions. Manually operate equipment for non-automated tasks, change tools and setups as required, measure parts for blueprint compliance, and handle hazardous waste properly including labeling, containment, and disposal. Clean equipment, tooling, and parts, perform assigned preventative maintenance, and record operational data for documentation. Work independently to read blueprints and planning sheets, with overtime and weekend availability as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of related experience or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Able to read and understand basic instructions
- Able to write simple correspondence
- Able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings
- Proficient in basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Capable of applying common sense to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
- Capable of resolving routine problems involving multiple variables
- Basic skills in using personal computers
- Basic skills in using common software applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics
- Ability to work overtime
- Ability to work weekends
