Job Summary
Conduct preflight inspections, monitor weather forecasts, and operate aircraft in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations Part 135 and Air Evac EMS Operations Manual. Create pilot information guides covering locations, frequencies, and hospital procedures; conduct local area orientations; and report malfunctions or injuries to the Operations Center. Perform housekeeping duties for crew quarters and hanger areas, including washing and waxing aircraft alongside maintenance and medical staff. Submit paperwork timely and adapt to irregular work paces while making sound decisions in outside weather conditions. Schedule includes 14-on/14-off rotation with on-duty housing.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter certificate
- FAA Helicopter instrument rating
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current FAA Class II Medical certificate
- 2000 hours total flight time
- 1500 hours helicopter time
- 1000 hours pilot in command
- 1000 hours turbine
- Minimum of 200 hours night (aided or unaided)
- 200 Instrument Hours (Actual / Hood / SIM)
- 50 Hours Actual in Aircraft
- Ability to make quick but sound decisions
- Ability to follow clear oral and/or written procedures without deviation
- Adapts to irregular work pace
- 230-pound weight limit
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Required to work frequently near moving mechanical parts
- Required to work in outside weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens or airborne particles
- Frequently exposed to vibrations/turbulence
- Exposed to loud noise levels requiring headphones while in-flight
- 15% geographical modifier to base pay
- $12K Float stipend
- $5K IFR stipend
- $15K Sign on Bonus, subject to eligibility
- Retention Bonus plans ($40,000 after 3 years plus additional retention bonuses once completed)
- On Duty Housing
- Schedule 14-on/14-off
- Hourly position (any hours over 40 in a pay week is over time)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous HEMS experience or equivalent
- 1 year experience with any GMR Air company
- EC135 Experience
