Job Summary
Street Technician I performs street maintenance and repair tasks, operates light to medium equipment, and ensures safe work practices while maintaining street infrastructure. Responsibilities include operating vehicles and equipment for hauling, loading, and street repair; participating in installation and repair of streets, potholes, curbs, sidewalks, and other structures; utilizing GPS to log asset locations and work completed; performing safety inspections on vehicles and tools; maintaining daily activity reports and work logs; assisting in identifying issues and proposing basic repair solutions; and supporting the Streets Division while interacting with citizens and City staff. Requires familiarity with construction practices and city maintenance procedures, the ability to read basic maps, basic safety protocol knowledge, willingness to learn equipment use, and effective communication. Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid Texas Driver’s License. Work is outdoors and may involve exposure to dangerous machinery, extreme weather, hazardous chemicals, and potential physical harm; may require lifting up to 100 pounds. Compensation range: $38,501–$57,752.
