Job Summary
Street Service position at Mountaineer Gas Company in Kingwood, WV. Responsibilities include locating gas lines and installing, replacing, or repairing gas mains or service lines; may install gas meters or read meters; assist customer servicemen with meter changes, customer inquiries, and delinquent-utility collections; inspect gas distribution equipment for defects and report issues; indicate irregularities and notify the proper department for action; perform other duties as assigned; requires outdoor work, data entry, and handling basic math. Must live within 45 minutes of the service center, hold a valid Class A CDL with a safe driving record, be able to work in all weather, and communicate effectively. Overtime and emergency callouts may be required; pre-employment drug screen and substance abuse testing per policies; previous natural gas field operations experience is preferred; subject to DOT regulations including Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan and Operator Qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A CDL driver's license and a safe driving record
- Must live within 45 minutes of the service center and maintain residency within that parameter throughout employment in field operations positions
- Ability to operate mechanical/pneumatic equipment and hand tools
- Ability to utilize and accurately enter information into a computer/handheld electronic device for data collection
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working outdoors in all types of weather and driving in all weather conditions
- Tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult customer interactions
