Job Summary
Design and deliver structured Street Hockey clinics and lessons, integrating YMCA Character Development values into all instruction. Lead active, face-to-face training sessions while maintaining strict supervision of participants to ensure safety and engagement. Evaluate player progress, adapt programming to individual needs, and enforce YMCA safety standards and emergency protocols. Manage equipment setup, break down facilities, and prepare materials for weekly activities. Support volunteers, address parent inquiries professionally, and maintain clean, organized program areas. Track accurate attendance records and promote member retention to support organizational growth. Available Wednesday evenings from 5:00-9:00pm with potential early morning, evening, or weekend responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year's experience in Street Hockey including coaching, training, or high-level participation
- Experience working with strongly youth preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Street Hockey rules, fundamentals, skills, and training techniques
- Strong leadership skills required
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages and lifestyles
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within the first 60 days
- AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
- First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
- Must be available Wednesday evenings from 5:00-9:00pm
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills to troubleshoot solutions
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- 0-5% of local travel within the state of Michigan; occasional out-of-state travel may be required for educational conferences or training
