Job Summary
Operate light to heavy motorized equipment such as trucks, backhoes, front-end loaders, graders, and snow removal machinery for street maintenance, alley repair, storm water collection, and construction projects. Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on all equipment, report malfunctions, and ensure safety by monitoring overhead and underground utilities while controlling traffic per MUTCD. Execute heavy manual labor including spreading asphalt, cutting vegetation, installing pipe, and loading/unloading materials. Supervise a workforce performing complex equipment tasks and train co-workers in operation. Maintain a valid Kentucky Class A Commercial Driver's license and demonstrate ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor in various climates.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience operating light to heavy equipment
- Equivalent combination of training and experience which evidences an advanced knowledge of light to heavy equipment operation
- Demonstrable ability to supervise
- Demonstrable ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Valid Kentucky Class A Commercial Driver's license within six (6) months of hire
- Ability to perform heavy repetitive manual labor in various temperatures and climates for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate internal radio system
- Ability to safely operate all motor vehicles and equipment
- Ability to follow generalized oral and written instructions
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with management personnel, fellow employees, and the general public
- Knowledge of construction techniques
- Ability to read blueprints and grades
- Demonstrable skill in the operation of light to heavy equipment
- Demonstrable skill in the operation of trucks
- Demonstrable skill in the operation of hand-held power tools
