Job Summary
Strategy Planning & Projects Lead responsible for driving enterprise-wide transformation initiatives by leading strategic and business planning cycles, translating strategy into practical actions, and supporting executive governance processes. Works with the AASW Board, CEO, Company Secretary, and Executive Team to oversee major projects, reform programs, and change initiatives, ensuring coordinated delivery, risk monitoring, and effective decision support. Serves as a strategic partner to the CEO, enabling prioritisation, stakeholder engagement, and issue management while fostering cross-organisational collaboration and governance coordination in a not-for-profit environment. The role emphasizes translating strategy into action, monitoring progress, reporting on outcomes and dependencies, and providing high-quality papers and briefings to support organisational improvement and decision-making. This position requires senior-level experience in strategic planning, governance, project management, and the ability to operate in a complex, member-based or health/human services sector. The role also involves environmental scanning, strategic research, and ensuring delivery of priority initiatives across the organisation.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, social policy, business, project management, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in strategic and corporate planning, project management, organisational change, or transformation roles
- Experience supporting senior executives, CEOs or Boards with high-quality advice, reporting and briefings
- Experience leading cross-organisational projects and delivering outcomes in complex environments
- Understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks
- Familiarity with the social work profession and ability to operate in complex environments with competing demands
- Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate strategy into practical actions, monitor progress, and report on outcomes, risks, and dependencies
- Ability to lead cross-organisational collaboration and remove barriers to delivery
- Ability to act as strategic partner to CEO with prioritisation and stakeholder engagement
- Experience in a member-based, non-profit, or health/human services sector
- Track record of delivering timely papers, briefings, and governance coordination
