Strategic Partnerships Lead // Banking Distribution

Job Summary
Strategic Partnerships Lead at JUMO, responsible for building and scaling bank partnerships across Africa; own senior relationships with banks’ executives; design and rollout bank-led distribution and lending propositions end-to-end, including commercial structuring, credit and risk approvals, regulatory sign-off, technology integration, launch and scale-up; monitor portfolio performance against KPIs and translate insights into actions with bank product, credit and risk leadership; identify regulatory and macro trends and translate into implications for JUMO’s product/portfolio strategy; drive cross-functional execution with legal, regulatory, data, product, marketing, customer insights, finance and operations; travel across the region; remote-first working arrangement in South Africa.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar
- Significant senior experience in banking or financial services; ideally including roles in corporate or retail banking, digital banking, credit and risk, transaction banking, or banking partnerships
- Deep understanding of credit risk and lending dynamics; ability to debate credit policy, scorecards, provisioning, capital and balance sheet implications with bank specialists
- Track record of executing new product launches, partnerships or distribution initiatives at scale inside or with a bank; navigating governance, credit and risk committees and regulatory approval processes
- Awareness of mobile money and digital financial services and how they intersect with bank-led distribution
- Ability and willingness to travel across the region as the role requires
- Executive presence and credibility; strong commercial and banking acumen; ability to structure deals and translate strategy into deliverables
- Strong project execution discipline; ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder rollouts end-to-end
- High levels of intellect and judgement; bias to execution
- Excellent communication and influence skills; capacity to move between board-level narrative and operational details
- Ability to break down complex challenges into measurable workstreams and lead delivery across internal and partner teams
- Adaptability to fast-paced fintech environments with strong time management and organizational skills
- Decisive, detail-oriented, enthusiastic; strong problem-solving abilities
