Job Summary
Strategic Business Planner based in Dallas, TX will conduct asset analysis and prepare metrics and reporting with limited supervision. Responsibilities include identifying competitive gaps and opportunities, originating and leading value-creation opportunities aligned with strategic direction, coordinating between asset strategy and priorities, developing market and commercial strategies to improve netbacks, building dashboards with high-quality data for competitive metrics, providing recommendations on projects and initiatives, collaborating with refinery and commercial teams to identify economically beneficial projects, leading cross-functional teams on large commercial initiatives, and building financial models to analyze capital projects and communicate key drivers and sensitivities to management. Regular interaction with leadership across commercial, operations, capital projects, and corporate finance is expected, along with special assignments as needed and travel up to 25%.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in refining is required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required
- Ability to determine and develop multiple approaches to increasing plan profitability and quantitatively evaluating each approach
- Ability to apply risk/reward factors
- Proficiency with Microsoft products
- Experience with engineering software
- Experience with LP, simulation, or modeling software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with standards and practices of the discipline
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations and modeling
- Economic thinker with ability to build trust and influence others
- Advanced Critical and Entrepreneurial Thinking; ability to challenge thinking when needed
- Ability to make independent decisions within broad guidelines and policies
