Job Summary
Strategic Account Executive, Federal Sales at Cursor in the DC-metro area, owning a named book of federal accounts and driving revenue growth across large government agencies. You will lead multi-threaded sales cycles across Engineering, Security, Procurement, Legal, and mission-critical stakeholders, become a trusted product expert through trials and security reviews, quantify value with ROI tied to developer productivity and secure software delivery, and partner with Field Engineering and the AI Deployment team to move opportunities from proof of concept to production. You will navigate federal procurement, contract vehicles, partners, and compliance requirements to accelerate adoption, and you will be a factual voice of the federal customer influencing product and roadmap decisions. You should have 5+ years of closing enterprise/federal technology sales, a proven track record of landing new logos and expanding strategic accounts, and a hunter mentality with strong pipeline generation and outbound prospecting skills. You are comfortable engaging with engineers, program leaders, CISOs/CIOs, and senior executives, and you are passionate about AI-powered developer tools and transforming how software gets written.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of closing experience in enterprise or federal technology sales
- experience selling developer tools, technical SaaS, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or emerging technologies
- ability to navigate complex federal sales cycles
- ability to build executive relationships across agencies and technical teams
- strong communication and analytical skills
- familiarity with ROI framing and procurement processes
- ability to work with Field Engineering and AI Deployment teams
- comfort with federal procurement, contracts, and compliance
