Job Summary
Story Desk Editor leads breaking news coverage, guides story planning across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms, collaborates with MSJs, producers, and photojournalists, and edits reporter content for accuracy and AP style under tight deadlines. The role focuses on shaping coverage, leveraging editorial judgment and audience data to inform decisions, and enhancing storytelling across multiple platforms. Requires 3-5 years of journalism experience, a Bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications or equivalent, strong writing skills, CMS experience, and ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of journalism experience in a local newsroom, digital production, or related role
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience
- Excellent writing skills with ability to produce accurate and compelling content quickly
- Experience with newsroom systems, CMS tools
- Knowledge of digital analytics platforms like Google Analytics and Google Data Studio
- Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
