Job Summary
Evening Story Desk Editor role combining assignment editor and digital content producer to lead coverage during the later part of the news cycle. Serve as a central hub for afternoon and evening news operations, coordinating with producers, reporters, photojournalists and digital teams to update breaking news, refine ongoing coverage and ensure content is timely and optimized for broadcast and digital platforms. Responsibilities include leading newsroom coverage during peak hours, monitoring developing stories, supporting evening newscasts and streaming coverage, shaping coverage through follow-ups, creating and publishing digital content, curating content across broadcast, digital, streaming and social platforms, and launching/managing WTOL 11+ livestreams. Utilize audience data and performance metrics to inform coverage decisions and improve reach and engagement. Maintain strong editorial judgment, multitask effectively under deadline, and uphold WTOL 11’s journalistic standards. Requirements include 1–3 years of newsroom or digital production experience, strong writing/editing skills, familiarity with newsroom CMS tools, ability to work across platforms, and willingness to work afternoon/evening shifts. A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience is required.

- Willingness to work afternoon/evening shifts
