Stormwater Engineer (Technical Lead)

Job Summary

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for floodplains, bridge, and culvert crossings while designing stormwater systems for municipal and roadway projects. Lead technical aspects of projects by managing engineers and technicians, conducting calculations, preparing reports, and performing cost estimations. Identify flood problem areas, develop alternative solutions, and design soil erosion and sediment control practices. Review and validate engineering work completed by team members to ensure accuracy. Maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors while mentoring staff engineers. Requires a PE license, 8-12 years of experience, and proficiency with HEC-RAS and SWMM.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering
  • Proven ability to lead projects from a technical perspective
  • Hands-on experience with stormwater design and management
  • Expertise in hydraulic analysis for open stream projects
  • Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulics modeling tools, such as HEC-RAS and SWMM
  • Strong skills in roadway drainage and flood reduction projects
  • Illinois and/or Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Project resume showcasing technical leadership in relevant projects

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
  • Experience with erosion control and floodplain management
  • Proficiency with Microstation
  • AutoCAD experience
