Job Summary

Receive, inspect, and store deliveries of food, chemicals, and operational stock for the galley. Issue products to production areas based on requisitions and par levels while maintaining FIFO rotation and temperature logs. Pull, push, and stage pallets, bins, and heavy cases using approved equipment to keep aisles clear and storage organized. Reject unsafe goods and report equipment defects or trip hazards immediately. Maintain clean, sanitary receiving and storage zones while wearing required PPE. Work independently in coolers, freezers, and vessel environments under a rotational three-year schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Physically capable of frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working with pallets, pallet jacks, carts, dollies, and heavy cases in a vessel environment
  • Must be able to work in coolers, freezers, dry stores, loading/staging areas, and galley-adjacent spaces
  • Must be able to climb, bend, reach, stand, walk, and work on vessel surfaces while following safety procedures
  • Must be able to manage repetitive physical tasks during delivery windows and inventory periods
  • Basic understanding of food safety, FIFO, temperature control, product separation, and sanitation
  • Ability to work independently while following direction from Storekeeper
  • Reliable, organized, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced operation
  • Must be able to lift up to 25kg
  • Must be able to use approved equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, dollies, or other vessel-approved material-handling equipment
  • Must follow safe lifting, pushing, pulling, and manual-handling procedures at all times
  • Must follow all food safety requirements when receiving, transporting, storing, and issuing food products
  • Must check and record receiving temperatures for refrigerated and frozen products when required
  • Must reject or hold products that are damaged, spoiled, contaminated, thawed, out of temperature, or otherwise unsafe
  • Must keep raw, ready-to-eat, allergen-sensitive, chemical, and non-food products separated as required
  • Must maintain clean, organized, and sanitary receiving, storage, cooler, freezer, and staging areas
  • Must use required PPE when handling food, chemicals, pallets, heavy items, or cold-storage products
  • Must report unsafe loads, damaged pallets, blocked exits, trip hazards, or equipment defects immediately
  • Must complete temperature logs, receiving records, requisitions, inventory counts, and daily logs accurately and on time
  • Must work safely, professionally, and cooperatively with the Saga X hospitality team
  • Must be able to pull, push, move, stage, and organize pallets, carts, totes, bins, and heavy cases as part of daily receiving and stock movement
  • Must break down pallets and move product safely into storage, production, or issuing areas
  • Must maintain clear aisles, safe walkways, and properly stacked storage areas
  • Must issue products to galley areas based on approved requisitions, par levels, production needs, or instructions from Storekeeper
  • Must pick, stage, and distribute food and supplies accurately to the correct department, meal period, or production area
  • Must support FIFO rotation and ensure older stock is used before newer stock where appropriate
  • Must receive, inspect, store, and issue food, supplies, chemicals, disposables, and other operational stock
  • Must support the Storekeeper with physical tasks related to store operations and any other duties assigned by the Storekeeper
  • Must prepare receiving area before delivery windows
  • Must receive and check incoming goods against paperwork
  • Must record required temperatures and note any issues
  • Must move product to dry storage, coolers, freezers, chemical storage, or galley production areas
  • Must break down and organize pallets safely
  • Must issue requisitioned items to the galley and record stock movement
  • Must clean and organize receiving and storage areas before the end of shift
  • Must communicate shortages, damaged goods, low stock, and follow-up items to the supervisor
  • Must be available for rotational schedule for three years with the possibility of extension
  • Must be able to work alongside Squamish, BC
  • Must be able to work on MV Isabelle X/ Saga-Company Vessels

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in receiving, stores, warehouse, food service, camp, hotel, vessel, or galley support
  • Food safety certification or willingness to complete required training
  • WHMIS or chemical-handling knowledge
  • Pallet jack or material-handling experience
