Job Summary
STORE MANAGER in Woodworth, LA at Dollar General. Responsible for managing all store employees and the end-to-end store operations including ordering, receiving, stocking, presenting, selling, staffing, and support. Recruits, selects and retains qualified employees in compliance with federal/state labor laws; provides training, conducts performance evaluations, and addresses gaps up to termination if needed. Sets expectations for performance, safety, and conduct; ensures proper opening and closing of the store at least twice weekly. Oversees budgeting elements such as sales trends, profitability, inventory turns, and shrink; manages in-stock targets, ordering plans, and cycle counts. Oversees merchandising presentation, pricing, signage, and fixture utilization; maintains accurate inventory and controls damages and losses. Maintains financial integrity with cashier accountability and cash-control procedures. Leads customer service, maintains a clean and secure store environment, and ensures compliance with company SOPs and policies. Provides supervision and development of staff, recruitment, and training to meet store needs. Frequent walking/standing; lifting up to 40 pounds with occasional up to 55 pounds; travel to other Dollar General stores for meetings or deposits as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc.)
- Ability to solve problems and adapt to varied situations
- May prefer bilingual Spanish speakers
