Job Summary
Store Manager for Dollar General in Watford City, ND responsible for leading all store employees and processes. Manages staffing and training, conducts performance evaluations, and makes recommendations on pay and advancement. Oversees scheduling to ensure opening/closing coverage, reviews sales and inventory trends, and maintains inventory accuracy through cycle counts and replenishment. Ensures proper merchandising, pricing, signage, cashier accountability, security practices, and compliance with federal/state labor laws. Leads customer service excellence, store cleanliness, safety, and a fast-paced, high-physical-demand environment. Requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of cash handling, inventory management, and basic retail operations. Strong emphasis on recruiting and developing staff and maintaining policy adherence.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions to generate reports
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems in varied situations
- Spanish speakers preference at some locations
