Job Summary
Store Manager at Dollar General in Ulysses, KS responsible for overseeing all store operations, including staffing, training, scheduling, inventory management, merchandising, pricing, and customer service. Lead recruiting and retention, conduct performance evaluations, establish pay and advancement recommendations, set expectations for safety and policies, and ensure proper opening and closing procedures. Manage stock replenishment, analyze sales and profitability trends, control expenses and shrink, maintain inventory accuracy, uphold cashier accountability and cash control, and ensure store compliance with company procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized store and provide leadership to staff while fostering teamwork and delivering superior customer service. Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers and for candidates with one year of retail management experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to read and interpret documents and to perform basic math
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc.)
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with variety of situations where limited standardization exists
- Bilingual Spanish speakers preferred
