Job Summary
Store Manager at Dollar General in Slaton, TX, responsible for the end-to-end store operation including staffing, training, performance management, inventory control, merchandising, cash handling, and safety/compliance. Leads recruiting and development of store employees, opens/closes the store multiple times weekly, analyzes operating statements to identify trends, ensures in-stock targets are met, supervises cashier accountability and security practices, maintains a clean and well-organized store, and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures while delivering superior customer service. Eligible to oversee store processes across scheduling, training, safety, and loss prevention with emphasis on leadership, communication, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc.)
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
- Bilingual Spanish speakers preferred (location-dependent)
