Job Summary
Store Manager in Hartford, AR at Dollar General. Responsible for the management of all store employees and the execution of store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. Recruits, selects and retains qualified employees; provides training; conducts performance evaluations; determines pay rate and advancement; communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations; ensures proper opening and closing; analyzes operating statements for sales/profitability and inventory issues; maintains inventory levels and controls damages, markdowns, and cash handling. Leads customer service, maintains a clean, safe store environment, ensures compliance with company policies, and completes required paperwork. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred) and at least one year of management experience in retail (preferred). Competencies include leadership, staff development, compliance with federal labor laws, merchandising, and effective communication.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
