Job Summary
Store Manager position at Dollar General in Harper, KS responsible for leading store operations, recruiting and developing staff, achieving in-stock and sales targets, implementing policies, and ensuring cash handling and security procedures. Key duties include hiring and retaining employees, conducting performance evaluations, training, creating staffing plans, opening/closing the store multiple times per week, analyzing operating statements for sales and profitability trends, managing inventory and replenishment, merchandising and pricing presentation, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining store safety and a clean environment, and complying with company policies and federal/state labor laws. Knowledge areas include cash handling, inventory management, merchandising, customer service leadership, and basic retail concepts. Occasional travel to bank deposits and management meetings may be required, with a strong emphasis on leadership and staff development.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures
- IBM cash register functions to generate reports
- Inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Good organization skills
- Ability to solve problems and deal with varied situations
- Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred
