Job Summary
Store Manager at Dollar General in Gunter, TX responsible for managing all store employees and ensuring effective planning and implementation of store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. Lead recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and adherence to federal/state labor laws; manage staffing and opening/closing routines; analyze operating statements for sales, profitability and inventory targets; oversee merchandising, stock replenishment, pricing and signage; maintain inventory accuracy, cash handling integrity, security practices, safety, customer service leadership, store cleanliness and overall store operations; ensure compliance with company policies and procedures; require ability to recruit and train staff, maintain safety protocols, perform basic merchandising and reporting duties. Qualifications emphasize a high school diploma or equivalent (strongly preferred) and management experience in retail, with knowledge of cash handling, inventory management, recruitment, training, and compliance; bilingual Spanish preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Knowledge of IBM cash register functions to generate reports
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc.)
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists
- Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers
