Job Summary
Store Manager role at Dollar General in Abilene, TX. Responsible for the management of all employees and the planning/implementation of store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. Leads recruiting, training, performance evaluations, and staffing, with responsibilities for opening/closing the store multiple times per week, analyzing operating statements for sales, profitability and inventory control, and ensuring in-stock targets and proper merchandising. Maintains cashier accountability, cash control, security practices, safety, and a clean, well-organized store; ensures compliance with policies and procedures and efficient store operations. Emphasizes customer service leadership, staff development, and adherence to federal/state labor laws and company policies. Preferred bilingual Spanish speakers noted as a potential advantage.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
