Job Summary
Directly supervise sales workers in the grocery department while achieving sales and profit objectives within a specific operating budget. Greet and assist customers, respond to inquiries and complaints, and monitor sales activities to ensure satisfactory service and quality goods. Manage daily operations including purchasing, budgeting, accounting, and personnel functions such as recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and terminating employees. Control store expenses, plan budgets, authorize payments, and verify daily deposits and payroll. Maintain inventory by ordering merchandise to prevent out-of-stocks, examining products for condition and pricing, and ensuring correct display and preparation of perishable foods. Enforce safety, health, and security rules, check equipment for proper working conditions, and maintain a favorable customer image through cleanliness and employee conduct. Open and close the store on time, review scheduled shift hours, and ensure all staff follow company policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Must be able to complete basic math calculations
- Required to have access to a phone at all times
- Subject to pre-employment background and drug screening
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Back belts required when unloading and lifting heavy products and/or objects
- Must be able to hear emergency sounds, intercom, fan motors, etc.
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs or less constantly
- Must be able to lift 11-20 lbs frequently
- Must be able to lift 21-50 lbs frequently
- Must be able to lift 51-100 lbs frequently
