Job Summary
Assist in recruiting and staffing activities; contribute to store merchandising and stock management, including staging, stocking, pricing, and display according to established practices; participate in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, and record-keeping; monitor in-stock targets and ordering practices; provide customer service leadership and model company procedures; participate in opening and closing duties; ensure safe deposits and cashier accountability; help maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked stores; operate the store in the manager's absence; review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for expense control and inventory management; ensure compliance with federal labor laws and company policies; support staff development and training; travel to other Dollar General stores as needed. Note: High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred and retail experience preferred for external candidates. Location: Kansas City, MO.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Effective organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
Desired Qualifications
