Job Summary
Store Manager Candidate in Deep Gap, NC: supports the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, cashier accountability, and daily store operations. Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, staging and stocking merchandise, conducting inventories, monitoring in-stock targets, delivering customer service leadership, participating in opening/closing duties, ensuring secure handling of funds, maintaining store cleanliness and safety, and reviewing operating statements to identify trends and opportunities. Requires strong math, cash handling, and training abilities, with knowledge of safety, compliance, and store policies; bilingual Spanish skills may be preferred. High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. Represents Dollar General’s focus on coaching external candidates toward Store Manager roles and maintaining adherence to company procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures
- Ability to learn IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise and recruit staff
- Understanding of federal labor laws and company policies
