Job Summary
Store Manager Candidate role supporting the store manager across staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and operating procedures. Assists with recruiting, staffing, cashier accountability, and financial controls; participates in opening/closing, bank deposits, and ensuring a clean, safe, well-stocked store. Develops externally for a limited-period Store Manager path, emphasizes customer service leadership, and applies knowledge of retail operations, pricing, and loss prevention. Requires strong math, cash handling, and reporting abilities, plus the capability to train and develop staff; bilingual Spanish is a plus in some locations. The position is based in Clarksdale, MS, with travel to related store activities as needed. Dollar General is an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Effective organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
