Job Summary
Store Manager role at Dollar General in Tuscumbia, AL overseeing all store operations, including staffing, training, cash handling, inventory control, merchandising, customer service leadership, and adherence to policies. Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining employees, training and evaluating performance, ensuring proper staffing levels and store opening/closing, monitoring sales and inventory trends, ordering and replenishment, maintaining merchandise presentation and pricing, controlling shrink and cash procedures, maintaining a safe and clean store, and complying with company policies and federal/state labor laws. Strong emphasis on leadership, process enforcement, and delivering superior service in a fast-paced retail environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions to generate reports
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc.)
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
- Certain store locations may give preference to bilingual Spanish speakers
