Job Summary
Store Manager at Dollar General responsible for the management of all store employees and end-to-end store operations including staffing, training, performance evaluations, ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, pricing, customer service leadership, inventory control, and cash handling. Leads adherence to company policies, federal/state labor laws, safety protocols, and financial controls; opening/closing duties, analyzing sales trends, shrink, and inventory issues; ensures proper staffing, merchandising standards, and a safe, well-organized store environment. Requires ability to recruit and train staff, manage performance, and maintain strong customer service and store operations; bilingual Spanish skills may be preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE program, etc.)
- Problem solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred
