Job Summary
Receiving, sorting, and preparing donated items for display while determining suitability based on established standards. Assist customers by ringing up sales, collecting monies, counting change, and preparing receipts. Maintain the neatness and security of the cash register area, balance drawers, and deliver bank deposits. Process sales records, tax forms, and social service vouchers. Hang clothes on racks, pack items into boxes, and transport materials to storage. Clean floors, tables, and work areas in the warehouse environment. Requires ability to stand for extended periods, lift objects under 25 lbs, and perform routine mathematical computations. High School diploma or G.E.D. required; retail experience preferred. Schedule includes 7-8 hours per day, 3-4 days per week, with some Saturdays required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to operate a cash register
- Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.)
- Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis
- Distance of travel is usually within the same building
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like
- Experience working in a retail store preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
