Store Clerk

As a Store Clerk at the Indiana State Prison, you will perform a wide variety of tasks in the commissary operations, including stocking, disbursing, and controlling goods and supplies for incarcerated individuals, transporting supplies from the warehouse to the commissary, and supervising inmates in assisting with these tasks. Core duties include authorizing orders received in the storeroom, communicating with vendors regarding partial shipments or misorders, maintaining detailed inventory records, evaluating storage procedures, ensuring proper storage and rotation of perishables, recommending equipment purchases, and assembling equipment in knocked-down condition. The role may involve supervising inmates and staff in warehouse activities, with additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements emphasize requisitioning/disbursing procedures, inventory control, accurate record-keeping, handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables per state regulations, effective communication, forklift/warehouse equipment operation, and the ability to train others, with accommodations available if needed.
