Job Summary
Store Associate performing customer service, donation processing, and daily thrift-store operations. Responsibilities include greeting customers and donors, processing cash/debit transactions with minimal variances, pricing and stocking donated items, handling merchandise safely, assisting with inventory control, and supporting store presentation through merchandising and window displays. Requires knowledge of stock and product pricing, adherence to OH&S health and safety policies, and the ability to lift up to 29 lbs. Part-time schedule with potential weekday and Saturday shifts; experience with cash registers and a computerized environment preferred. The Salvation Army Mill Bay thrift store is seeking a team member who can contribute to sales targets and maintain a tidy, safe retail environment while upholding the organization's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of some high school coursework
- Few months of experience in processing or distribution of goods or customer service
- Cash handling experience is required
- Experience with cash registers and related processes and procedures (bank deposits, summary reports)
- Ability to work in a computerized environment
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cooperative team
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral)
- Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 29 lbs regularly
- Ability to undergo screening and background checks as required
