Job Summary
Store Associate provides customer service, sorts and processes donations, and supports ongoing thrift-store operations. Responsibilities include greeting customers and donors, assisting in meeting sales targets, handling cash and debit transactions with accuracy, pricing and displaying merchandise, stocking and sorting donations, managing inventory, ensuring store safety and OH&S compliance, and aiding in window and merchandise displays. Requires some high school coursework, cash-handling experience, and ability to lift up to 29 lbs; part-time schedule including weekdays and Saturdays; focus on teamwork and customer service in a Salvation Army Thrift Store environment.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to develop understanding and support for The Salvation Army's mission
- Completion of some high school coursework
- Few months of experience in processing or distribution of goods or customer service
- Cash handling experience
- Experience with cash registers and related processes (bank deposits, summary reports)
- Knowledge of lifting guidelines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cooperative team
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 29 lbs frequently
- Ability to undergo background checks as required
