Job Summary
This permanent part-time role at The Salvation Army Thrift Store involves delivering customer service, sorting donations, assisting in retail operations, processing transactions with cash/debit, and contributing to inventory control and store presentation. Responsibilities include greeting customers and donors, pricing and displaying merchandise, processing donations and stock, maintaining store safety and OH&S compliance, and supporting achievement of sales targets while handling cash and maintaining accuracy in transactions. Requirements include some high school coursework, cash handling experience, ability to lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly, and good interpersonal/communication skills; shift availability includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Compensation range: $17.60 to $21.03 CAD per hour with a maximum of $25.23 CAD, with potential for annual increases.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army mission
- Completion of some high school coursework
- Experience with cash handling and cash registers
- Knowledge of lifting guidelines
- Experience in a computerized environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral)
- Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs frequently
- Ability to stand for long periods and endure varied physical demands
