Job Summary
Monitor fire hazards and combustible sources while employees perform hot work in client facilities. Check permits for completion and accuracy, verify areas are free of trash, and ensure drains are covered before work begins. Use LEL monitors to detect flammable vapors, maintain barricades and spark containment, and keep communication lines open with supervisors. Evacuate workers immediately if hazardous conditions occur and contact the rescue team if injuries or fires happen. Inspect work areas for smoldering sparks after completion and adhere to all OSHA guidelines and company safety procedures. Work in petrochemical/refinery environments with variable hours, extensive travel, and overnight stays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent

- Must be able to check the permit to ensure completion and accuracy before allowing hot work to begin
- Must be able to make sure the area is free of trash and other combustibles
- Must be able to monitor the area with an LEL monitor before allowing hot work to begin
- Must be able to make sure all drains are covered
- Must be able to maintain a barricade if required
- Must be able to have a fire extinguisher and/or charged water hose before allowing work to begin
- Must be able to monitor the combustible source of the hot work to ensure it is not in danger of causing a fire
- Must be able to maintain spark containment if required
- Must be able to monitor the surrounding area to ensure there are no hazardous conditions that could harm the workers performing hot work
- Must be able to immediately evacuate the workers should a hazardous condition occur within the vicinity of the hot work area
- Must be able to immediately contact the rescue team/fire brigade should a worker become injured or should a fire occur
- Must be able to monitor the expiration time of the permit and stop the work should the permit expire
- Must be able to ensure no smoldering sparks can create fire after hot work is complete
- Must be able to inspect entire work area and look for potential release of flammable vapors or liquids before and during each shift
- Must be able to attend and complete trainings as required by the Company and client
- Must be able to work in a petrochemical / refinery environment
- Must be able to work in cold working conditions during winter months
- Must be able to work in hot working conditions during the summer months
- Must be able to work in noisy environments
- Must be able to work in emergency situations
- Must be able to work overtime
- Must be able to travel throughout U.S.
- Must be able to stay overnight for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work variable/ project dependent days and hours
- Must be able to perform other related duties as assigned
