Job Summary
Conduct performance assurance inspections, scheduled maintenance, and operation verification procedures on complex medical sterilization and decontamination equipment. Repair, calibrate, and troubleshoot sterilizers, washer decontaminators, and internal steam generators while ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining accurate equipment databases. Inform supervisors of repair statuses and unusual equipment situations, then work with subcontractors and vendors to ensure proper service delivery. Build and maintain customer relationships by discussing equipment status and functionality, while performing periodic inventory inspections to ensure equipment uptime. This role requires a valid driver's license and variable travel depending on the primary site or region. Applicants must have at least three years of experience in repair and maintenance of sterilization equipment, along with AC/DC electrical and plumbing knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of sterilization and decontamination equipment
- AC/DC electrical knowledge
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics
- Plumbing knowledge
- Ability to read and understand piping diagrams
- Ability to identify basic plumbing components
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical motor circuits
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair internal steam generators
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems
- Ability to sweat copper pipe
- Ability to create flare and swage connections
- Ability to use and understand the operation of a digital multi-meter
- Ability to use and understand the operation of an amp meter
- Ability to perform temperature and pressure calibrations on sterilization and decontamination equipment
- Ability to verbally explain the difference between gravity, pre-vacuum, and liquid sterilization cycles
- Ability to explain what a biological indicator is and how it is used
- Ability to explain what a sterilization integrater is and how it is used
- Ability to explain the instrument flow of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
- Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- 2 year degree in a technical/electronics field
- TRIMEDX Trained Certification or equivalent biomedical related certification program
- Ability to routinely employ fine motor skills during the installation, servicing, and maintaining of sterilization and decontamination equipment
- Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, or otherwise maneuver body while servicing and repairing sterilization and decontamination equipment
- Ability to operate tools/machinery that use hand and/or foot controls
- Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 lbs
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and networking applications
- Availability for travel as required

- Knowledge of Steris, Amsco and/or Getinge sterilizers
