Job Summary
Decontaminate, clean, prepare, retrieve, and sterilize surgical items and equipment using sonic cleaners, washer sterilizers, EtO, Sterrad, and Steris. Store and issue supplies in accordance with departmental policies, including inventory management, stock rotation, and proper labeling of instrument sets. Mentor and train new team members on sterilization methods, assembly techniques, and scope inspection procedures. Complete sterilization records and process biologicals according to policy. Adhere to regulatory agency requirements and maintain knowledge of microbiology and infection control standards. Full-time day shift at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Requires certification in Central Service/Sterile Supply, high school degree, and 1-2 years of related experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED
- Certification in Central Service/Sterile Supply
- Able to read, write, speak English and perform simple math operations
- Ability to provide leadership and to oversee the work of technicians
- Operate hazardous equipment
- Knowledge of microbiology, infection control, Computerized record keeping
- 1-2 years experience in a related field
- Complete knowledge to use specific mechanical equipment, such as, sonic cleaners, washer sterilizers, EtO, Sterrad, Steris, and other specialized equipment
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory agency requirements
- Adhere to guidelines
