Sterile Processing Technician (SPD) - Per Diem (Evenings) - Easton and Warren Campuses

Job Summary
Retrieve, sort, and decontaminate used materials, instruments, medical devices, and equipment from nursing units, operating rooms, emergency departments, delivery rooms, nurseries, and outpatient departments. Perform quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness, and proper functioning of instruments. Conduct high-level disinfection on items that cannot be sterilized. Assemble and wrap items in correct packaging for sterilization, then sterilize wrapped and packaged items by steam or ETO. Prepare case carts for the operating room. This per diem evening shift role is based at the Easton Campus, with potential coverage at the Warren Campus. Requires standing and walking up to four hours daily and lifting up to 50 pounds. SPD certification is required within 18 months of hire.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- SPD certification within 18 months of hire
- Standing for up to 4 hours per day, up to 2 hours at a time
- Walking for up to 4 hours per day, up to 2 hours at a time
- Sitting for up to 2 hours per day, 1 hour at a time
- Fingers and hands for data entry, assembling instrument trays, picking items for case carts and packaging items
- Upper extremities to lift up to 50 pounds
- Hearing ability sufficient to hear above noise level of operating equipment (sterilizers)
- Ability to hear alarms and telephone
- Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision (must be able to detect defects in instruments, such as nicks, burrs, etc.)
- Frequently pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 200 pounds
- Must be able to work at the Easton Campus
- May also work at the Warren Campus based on the needs of the department
